Allergy-prone Macie breathes out of one nostril, is riddled with neuroses and wears a constant look of panic. Any sort of change alarms Macie, who has been wearing her hair the same way since third grade. She's so self-conscious that even if she doesn't know what anyone is laughing about, she assumes she's the target anyway. Macie relies on her friends Ginger and Dodie to explain junior high-type things, and often convulses with nerves as they discuss anything the least bit intimidating—like the elimination of Jell-0 from the school cafeteria.
